    Consideramos que la entidad personal (y aún numérica) de los Mayores que año tras año se matriculan en la oferta de estudios que se hace desde el Aula Universitaria de Mayores es cada vez más importante. Todos los implicados en la misma, queremos y trabajamos para que siga teniendo un crecimiento sustantivo el número de matriculados; entendemos que ello se corresponde con los beneficios que se revierten hacia esta población cada vez más numerosa, que sobrepasa los 50 años, manteniendo unas inquietudes formativas dignas de un bien merecido tratamiento.

    La trascendencia de atender a los Mayores se promueve en todas las investigaciones con ese objetivo de estudio. Su propio número y sus expectativas de vida saludable revierten positivamente en la mejora de la sociedad.

    Con ocasión de la próxima elección de un nuevo Rectorado para la UGR, nos atrevemos a proponer a su Equipo de Gobierno, la necesaria creación -que estimamos- de un CENTRO ESPECÍFICO UNIVERSITARIO DE MAYORES (CEUM), donde cabrían armonizarse todos los avances sociales, técnico-científicos y de plural número de investigaciones, incluidos Programas Universitarios de Mayores de tipo piloto o experimentales, al amparo de la institución granadina.

    Consecuentemente, se propone la creación de un Órgano de Gobierno colegiado, con amplia representación institucional, con el alumnado matriculado y las asociaciones vinculadas, que podría ser el órgano adecuado adonde exponer las “propuestas de mejora” y demás sugerencias organizativas y de funcionamiento que se recogen en la comunicación que se presenta.

    We believe that the personal and even numeric presence of the senior students who are enrolled in the university senior courses (Aula Universitaria de Mayores) offered by the university year after year is increasingly important. All the senior students involved in these courses want and work to continue having a considerable growth in the number of enrollments. We understand that this is related to the benefits which have an impact on the ever growing population over 50 years old, who have a training curiosity that deserves to be properly treated.

    The importance of taking care of the elderly is promoted in all the investigations on the subject. The number of students itself and the expectations of a healthy life influences the improvement of society positively.

    On the occasion of the upcoming election of a new Rector for the University of Granada, we dare to propose to his government team, what we consider to be a necessity: the creation of a SPECIFIC UNIVERSITY SENIOR CENTER (CEUM), which would harmonize all the social, technical and scientific advances and a wide number of investigations, including experimental or pilot University Programs for the elderly, under the institution from Granada.

    Consequently, the creation of an organ of collegiate government with broad institutional representation, with the students enrolled and related associations is proposed. This could be the appropriate body to expose the "proposed improvements" and other organizational and operational suggestions that will be included in the paper presented.
