  El presente trabajo analiza, primeramente, el conjunto de factores que en pleno siglo XVII favorecen la aparición de una auténtica necesidad por construir una lengua artificial, vehículo eficaz para la transmisión del saber científico entre los hombres de ciencia. En segundo lugar, pretendemos establecer una clasificación de los sistemas lingüísticos artificiales partiendo tanto de los propósitos por los que han sido creados como de los métodos utilizados por los autores para la concepción de los mismos.
