La representación teatral de la lucha entre moros/turcos y cristianos se origina en Cataluña ya en los entremeses de la procesión de Corpus para pasar después al desfile en fiestas patronales o de recepción/agasajo a reyes y grandes personajes. Consideramos las principales guerras en que hubo participación catalana significada, la victoria de Lepanto (1571), la defensa de Viena (1683) y la conquista de Buda (1686), así como la guerra de África en el siglo XI), y los bailes hablados que generaron en poblaciones catalanas.

Dramatic representation of the battles between the Moors/Turks and Christians originated in Catalonia with the short theatrical performances (entremeses) of the Corpus Christi and appear later during the parades celebrated in honor of patron saints or in welcoming celebrations and feswtivals in honor of kings and major personalities. We analyze the most important wars in which Catalonia participaed, the Battle of Lepanto (1571), the Siege of Vienna (1683) and the Battle of Buda (1686), as well as the war of Africa in the 9th century, as well as the balls parlats (spoken dances) produced during those wars in different Catalan towns.
