    En el presente artículo analizamos el discurso mítico en los viajes de Pero Tafur, viajero español que recorre Grecia, sus islas y el Mediterráneo oriental durante el siglo XV. En primer lugar, examinamos el concepto de mito desde una perspectiva histórica, antropológica y cultural. Posteriormente, revisamos los episodios míticos incluidos en la tradición de los viajeros medievales, como también la herencia narrativa de Tafur, quien incorpora diversos elementos de la antigüedad griega. Finalmente, estudiamos las funciones discursivas en las Andanças, considerando las secuencias de lo temporal, lo espacial (histórico-simbólico) y lo fabuloso. A partir de esto, el viajero rescata una memoria histórica de la antigüedad y articula un imaginario simbólico y maravilloso de los acontecimientos del pasado.

    In this article we analyze the mythical discourse in the voyages of Pero Tafur, Spanish traveler that crosses Greece, its islands and the Eastern Mediterranean during the 15th century. First, we examine the concept of Myth from a historical, anthropological and cultural perspective. Subsequently, we review the mythical episodes included in the tradition of medieval travelers, as well as narrative inheritance of Tafur, which incorporates various elements of Greek antiquity. Finally, we study the discursive functions in the Andanças, considering the sequences of the temporal, the spatial (symbolic-historical) and the fabulous. From this, the traveler rescues a historical memory of antiquity and articulates a symbolic and wonderful imagery of the events of the past.
