Los viajes han sido frecuentemente objeto de inspiración para escritores y cronistas que han ido dejando la huella de su experiencia viajera en el desarrollo de sus textos. En ellos se suele alternar lo real con lo imaginario y es esa una de las principales fortalezas que puede tener un trabajo literario para alcanzar el éxito. La constante intromisión de lo real en lo ficticio y viceversa permite la construcción de incesantes imaginarios sociales en determinados lugares y momentos. Las creaciones literarias transportan al lector a una realidad que sólo existe o se configura en su cabeza. Con el auge y desarrollo del turismo literario, que es una rama del turismo cultural, se va a permitir, de múltiples maneras, que el lector complemente en el mundo real lo que experimentó en sus lecturas, por ejemplo visitando los lugares donde discurre la trama de una novela. En este artículo se va a analizar, por un lado, el turismo literario como factor de creación de nuevos imaginarios sociales y, por otra parte, se va a construir un perfil del turista literario en España que nos permita identificar cuáles son sus características comunes. Para conseguir este fin hemos revisado bibliografía específica sobre el tema tratado, se ha recurrido a organismos culturales que nos han aportado datos sobre el visitante y su experiencia viajera y hemos incorporado una encuesta como técnica para obtener información.

Trips have often been an inspiration purpose for writers and chroniclers who have left their imprint of their travelling experiences on the creation of their writings. Most of them alternate reality with imagination and this is one of the main strenghts that a literary work can have to achieve success. Continued interferences between fact and fiction and vice versa, allow the creation of many social imaginaries at certain times and in certain places. Great literary creations take us into a reality which exists only in our head. As a result of increased literary tourism, which is a branch of cultural tourism, readers will be allowed to complement, in many different ways, in real word what they have been assimilated from their readings, for example, through visiting those places where the narrative of the novel is set. In this article, we are going to analyze, on the one hand, literary tourism as a factor of new social imaginaries creation, and on the other hand, we will build a profile of the literary tourist in Spain that allows us to identify which are their common characteristics. To reach this objective, we have reviewed a selected bibliography concerning the topic, it has resorted to cultural organizations which have provided us a great deal of information about the visitor and his travelling experience, and we have included a survey in order to obtain information.
