  If we look closely at the functioning logics of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, we will see a number of common points with mafia organizations as the Italian, Russian and Chinese mafias. It is possible that a similar set of constraints tends to lead to the same type of organizations. This article aims to understand the appearance, function and evolution of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant through a comparison with mafias, structures whose appearance dates back to the 19th century.

  Si l’on s’intéresse de près aux logiques de fonctionnement de l’organisation État islamique, l’on y verra des points communs avec des structures de type mafieux, qu’il s’agisse de mafias italiennes, russes ou chinoises. Il n’est donc pas impossible qu’un ensemble de contraintes similaires tende à aboutir au même type d’organisations. Cet article1 vise à comprendre l’apparition, le fonctionnement et l’évolution de l’organisation État islamique à travers une comparaison avec les mafias, des structures dont l’apparition remonte au 19e siècle.
