Testimonios poéticos del aniquilamiento de la comunidad sefardí de Salónica

    El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar las imágenes de la persecución y la destrucción de la comunidad judía de Salónica en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, conservadas en la poesía de los sefardíes supervivientes del Holocausto. Al presentar brevemente la significación histórica de la ciudad, hasta 1943 uno de los principales centros sefardíes en la diáspora turcobalcánica, se describe su lugar en la poesía judeoespañola contemporánea. De este panorama se han elegido para el análisis los poemas que forman un testimonio directo de la aniquilación de la judería salonicense, o sea, fueron escritos por los supervivientes del exterminio, oriundos de Salónica o sus habitantes en los años antecedentes a las deportaciones a Auschwitz-Birkenau: Judá Perahiá, León Hagouel y Bouena Sarfatty-Garfinkle. El enfoque principal del artículo lo constituye la explicación del texto con el fin de  mostrar las distintas estrategias literarias elegidas por los autores a la hora de tratar sobre el tema de la Shoá. Las composiciones estudiadas se han dividido aquí en las que siguen el modelo tradicional de la reacción judía ante un desastre y las que se alejan de este esquema

    The purpose of this paper is to analyze the images of the persecution and the destruction of the Jewish community of Salonica during the WWII, preserved in the Holocaust survivors’ Sephardic poetry. After presenting briefly the historic significance of the city, which, till 1943, used to be one of the most important Sephardic centres in the Turkish-Balkan Diaspora, its presence in the contemporary Judeo-Spanish poetry is described. The study concerns the poems regarded as direct testimony to the extermination of the Jews of Salonica, created by Holocaust survivors coming from this city or having lived there just before the deportations to AuschwitzBirkenau. The authors taken into consideration are Judá Perahiá, León Hagouel and Bouena Sarfatty-Garfinkle. The interpretation is focused on showing different literary strategies chosen by the poets when they approach the subject of the Shoah. Accordingly, the poems analyzed in the paper are divided into two groups: the one which follows the traditional Jewish response to disaster and the one which differs from this pattern.
