Resumen de China's amorphous graphite rebounds in Q2

Albert Li, Andrew Miller

  • Chinese exports of amorphous graphite increased for the first time this year in April, with monthly figures reflecting a more robust market for amorphous products amidst continually sluggish flake demand.

The relative buoyancy of spherical exports, which increased by 1.4% y-o-y, along with the upturn in amorphous markets, was reflected in Chinese prices over the quarter. China's amorphous prices stabilised after an average price decline of 14.6% in late March, while the FOB China price for uncoated spherical, 99.95% C, 15 microns, remained at $3,600/tonne, in what is a far less fluid market.

The price of amorphous, 80% C, -100 mesh, FOB, China is currently stable at $500/tonne, while amorphous, 85% C, -100 mesh, FOB, China is valued at between $680 - $730/tonne.
