El relato de justificación. Una herramienta para el análisis del franquismo

Abstract

En este artículo se aborda la cuestión de cómo analizar testimonios biográficos desde la inves- tigación antropológica. Para ello indagamos en la dimensión formal del relato testimonial observando cómo las personas que han vivido su infancia en los primeros años del Franquismo hablan sobre este tiempo y sobre el propio régimen. Nos detendremos en una de las formas narrativas que personas de esa generación eligen para transmitir sus ideas y percepciones: el llamado relato «de justificación», una espe- cie de subgénero del relato narrativo. El análisis de los testimonios permite indagar en las versiones sub- jetivas de discrepancias entre las normas sociales y las actitudes individuales, contribuyendo así tanto al análisis de los fenómenos sociales como al de la conciencia. El primer apartado describe el contexto de la investigación biográfica e historiográfica para la memoria histórica del Franquismo. Una segunda parte presenta las características y las posibilidades de la entrevista biográfica. La tercera parte utiliza extrac- tos de entrevistas como ejemplos con los que desentrañar el funcionamiento del relato de justificación como herramienta para el análisis de fenómenos socioculturales situados en el periodo franquista.

his article faces the question of how to analyse biographical testimonies from the perspec- tive of anthropological investigation. To this end, we inquire into the formal dimension of the testimoni- al story noting how people who have lived their childhood during the beginning of Francoism speak about their lives in that time. Here we will study a narrative form used by subjects of that generation to transmit their ideas and perceptions: the «justification» story, a kind of subgenre of the narrative story.

The analysis of the testimonies allows for us to look into subjective versions of divergence between social rules and individual activities, thereby contributing to the analysis of the social phenomenon and the condcious mind. The first part describes the context of the biographical and historiographical research for the historical memory of Francoism. A second part introduces the characteristics and the possibilities of the biographical interview. The third section uses excerpts of interviews as examples to unravel the operation of the justification story as a tool for the analysis of the Francoism socio-cultural phenomenon.
