El presente artículo intenta realizar un repaso histórico por la construcción del puente de San Telmo, así como su contexto e incidencia en el panorama portuario de la capital hispalense. Relación con esta que se mantendría hasta que su maquinaria, que le dotaba de su capacidad móvil, fuera retirada a principios de los años sesenta; trasladándose así la actividad portuaria lejos de los históricos muelles del Arenal.

The present article provides a historical overview of the construction of the San Telmo bridge, describing its background and impact on the inland port of Seville. This relation with the port remained intact until the machinery used to raise the bridge was removed at the start of the nineteen sixties and port activity was moved far away from the ancient wharves of the Arenal.
