The geometric cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart has been proposed as an alternative to the Bernoulli CUSUM chart for high-quality processes where the nonconforming rate is small. This paper shows that in cases where a process shift may occur at any time, the steady-state properties of the two CUSUM charts are identical, as the charts can be designed to be mathematically equivalent.
