Los episodios repletos de aventuras consiguen despertar el interés de cualquier lector, más todavía si este es un estudiante de Ciencias Sociales en la ESO acostumbrado a memorizar fechas y datos. Por ello, para diseñar el proyecto de investigación que aquí se presenta, se han seleccionado dos casos muy sugerentes del siglo XVI: uno basado en un corsario inglés y otro en un bandolero aragonés. Ambos se han utilizado para poner en práctica una experiencia de empatía histórica centrada en la monarquía de Felipe II. Su propósito es que los estudiantes, en lugar de limitarse a memorizar hechos del pasado, sean capaces de dar sentido a las acciones de los sujetos que en dicho periodo vivieron. Para medir el grado de consecución de dicho objetivo, ha resultado clave el análisis de las respuestas dadas por cada estudiante a las preguntas planteadas a partir de los dos casos mencionados. Con los datos obtenidos se ha podido realizar una investigación sobre la capacidad del alumnado de 2º de la ESO para situarse en el contexto histórico estudiado.

When a reader finds an episode full of adventures and situations going on in a book, their interest is awaken; even more if it is a student of secondary education who is used to memorizing dates and data. Therefore, two different cases from the 16th century have been chosen in order to design and develop this project about historical empathy: the first one is based on an English privateer whereas the second one tells about an Aragonese brigand. Thus, both cases have become the central axis of an experience of historical empathy based on the monarchy of Phillip II, which expects the students not only to memorize facts and repeat them, but also to be able to give meaning to the actions of the people living in that period. To check whether they have achieved this goal, all the answers given by the students have been analyzed afterwards. Therefore, the final task of this study is to carry out a research about the ability of the students of secondary education to place themselves in the studied historic context.
