  Durante décadas, diversas investigaciones sostuvieron que la función del padre era la de proveedor económico y sostén de su pareja. No obstante, con los cambios históricos que fueron sucediendo en las últimas décadas, muchos psicólogos se interesaron en conocer cuáles eran las funciones del padre y qué le ocurría al padre durante la gestación de su hijo. Es por ello que este trabajo tuvo como objetivo construir un instrumento que permita conocer, evaluar y analizar cómo se sintió el padre con respecto a la llegada de su hijo, así como también conocer las diversas emociones presentadas en cada etapa del embarazo. Se concluye que el padre desde el inicio del embarazo atraviesa un proceso de construcción hacia la paternidad, a diferencia de las investigaciones que plantean que el padre se da cuenta de su reciente paternidad cuando ve por primera vez a su hijo. Se ha comprobado que el padre comienza su transición desde la decisión de tener un hijo. Y que la manera en cómo se desarrolle dicha transición dependerá de diversos factores tales como: la historia como hijo, su relación con su padre, el tipo de personalidad, la situación de pareja, su situación actual, entre otras.

  For decades, various research argued that the father’s role was that of economic provider and support of your partner. However, with the historical changes that were happening in recent decades, many psychologists were interested in knowing what the roles of the father were and that happened to the father during the pregnancy of her son. That is why this study aimed to construct an instrument to learn, evaluate and analyze how the father felt regarding the arrival of his son, and also know the various emotions presented in each stage of pregnancy. One concludes that the father from early pregnancy through a process of construction to parenthood, unlike investigations suggest that the father realizes his recent paternity when he first sees her son, was found to father begins its transition from the decision to have a child. And the way how this transition takes place will depend on various factors such as: the story as a child, his relationship with his father, personality type, marital status, current situation, among others.
