  • A translation of the Dutch chapbook 'play' of St John of Beverley, a sensational tale of incestuous rape, murder, a wildman hermit, and eventual absolution. The introduction examines ties between medieval Beverley and the Low Countries to explain the text's genesis, and discusses the possibility of an earlier English saint's play on the subject.
