Este artículo explora la relación entre el surgimiento de “nuevos” movimientos sociales (el 15M y Occupy) e Internet. Los nuevos medios sociales permiten a estos movimientos sociales desplegar una presencia significativa tanto en espacios cibernéticos como físicos. Su futuro estará caracterizado por movinets en tanto formas de activismo más eficiente. Su mayor capacidad de hacer circular ideas y propuestas alterará inevitablemente las dinámicas de la movilización social.

This paper explores the relationship between the rise of “new” social movements (15-M and Occupy) and the Internet. The new social media gives rise to new kinds of social movements which embed this technology from the moment of conception. The future of social movements will be characterised by movinets, which will have the effect of developing new efficient ways of activism. The movinets, with their embedded technology and capacity to circulate ideas among different spheres of reality, have a potential to alter the dynamics of social mobilisation.

Este artigo explora a relação entre o surgimento de “novos” novos movimentos sociais (o “15M” e o “Occupy”) e a Internet. A Internet gera um novo tipo de movimento social que incorporou a tecnologia desde o seu surgimento. Esta característica permite que os movimentos tenham uma presença significativa em espaços tanto cibernéticos, quanto físicos. O futuro dos movimentos sociais será caracterizado por “movinets”, que têm a capacidade de desenvolver novas formas de ativismo mais eficientes. Os “movinets”, com sua capacidade de fazer circular ideias e propostas mediante diferentes esferas da realidade, detêm um notável potencial para alterar as dinâmicas de mobilização social.
