Evolução da distribuição espacial dos hotéis de redes no Estado do Paraná (1940-2010)

    The first hotel groups started to settle in ParanaState (Brazil) in the 1940’s. Therefore, it was only in the 1990’s that the number of hotels, including international chain hotels, in some Parana cities raised considerably. This study aims at analysing the spatial distribution of chain hotel within the period from 1940 to 2010, as well as to establish a perspective of the settlement of new hotels in Parana, by means if research carried out by specialized entities. So as to achieve our aims, a bibliographical research was carried out ; we also collected information regarding the spatial distribution, compiling all the hotels within a certain area, using Guia 4 Rodas (2010) published by Publisher Abril, which allowed us to make cartograms. Chain hotels are present in eleven cities in ParanaState, where there is a low flow of the so-called businessmen, the main clients of chains.

    ParanaState city capital, Curitiba, will host The World Cup in 2014, which will require a higher tourist demand for the city. This fact will lead to the opening of new chain hotels in the city, fact that is not necessarily connected to the event, but to the necessity of infrastructure improvements and to Curitiba economic growth

    Os primeiros grupos hoteleiros começaram a atuar no Estado do Paraná na década de 1940, porém foi a partir dos anos 1990, que houve um aumento considerável do número de hotéis em algumas cidades paranaenses, inclusive de redes internacionais. O objetivo deste artigo é de analisar a distribuição espacial dos hotéis de redesno período entre 1940 a 2010, bem como, traçar uma perspectiva de novas aberturas de hotéis no Estado do Paraná, através de pesquisas realizadas por entidades especializadas no assunto. Para tanto foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica pertinente à temática, além do levantamento de t odos os hotéis de redes que atuam no recorte espacial através do Guia 4 Rodas (2010) da Editora Abril, possibilitando a confecção de cartogramas.Os hotéis de redes estão presentes em onze cidades do Estado do Paraná, onde há um fluxo dos chamados homens de negócios, principais clientes das redes. A capital do Estado irá sediar a Copa do Mundo de 2014, o que irá gerar uma maior demanda turística para a cidade, ocasionando novas aberturas de hotéis de redes na cidade, fato que não está ligado ao evento, mas sim as melhorias em infraestruturas e ao crescimento econômico de Curitiba.
