Este estudio profundiza especulaciones en torno a la última obra que Juan Sebastián Bach intentó publicar, un conjunto de catorce fugas que él denominó individualmente Contrapunctus, y un apéndice de cuatro cánones de creciente complejidad. El título de la obra llegó distorsionado a nuestros días como Die Kunst der Fuge (El Arte de la Fuga). En torno a la obra surgieron muchos mitos a causa de la forma de impresión (en partitura), a su estado de aparente in-completitud, y en cuanto a que el anciano maestro habría dictado en su lecho de muerte el coral "Ante tu trono, Señor, comparezco".

This paper deepens into the research of the speculations dealing with the last work Bach attempted to publish: The ensemble of fourteen fugues, individually called Contrapunctus, plus an appendix of four Canons of increasing complexity. There was distortion in the title of the work known today as Die Kunst der Fuge, or The Art of the Fugue. Many myths surround this work because of the style of impression called partitura, its state of apparent incompleteness, and the fact that the old master would have dictated the chorale "Before Thy Throne" in his deathbed.
