Resumen de La sociedad maya bajo el dominio colonial: análisis y delimitación historiográfica

El presente Artículo de investigación es un estudio historiográfico sobre La sociedad maya bajo el dominio colonial, de Nancy Farriss. El análisis se divide en tres partes: en la primera, se presenta la biografía intelectual de la autora; en la segunda, se realiza un estudio sobre las fuentes, la arquitectónica, la estilística, los personajes, y la etiología de la obra; finalmente, en la tercera, se intenta dilucidar a qué corriente historiográfica pertenece, haciendo para ello una comparación entre la etnohistoria y la Escuela de los Annales.

The present Research Article is an historiographical study of the book Maya Society Under Colonial Rule, by Nancy Farriss. The analysis is divided in three parts: in the first one, the intellectual biography of Nancy Farriss is presented; the second is a study about the sources, the architectural form of the work, its stylistic, its characters, and its etiology;
finally, the third part is an attempt to catalog Nancy Farriss’s work in an historiographical school, comparing the projects of the Ethnohistory and the Annales School.
