One of its basic principles of Toponymy is to analyse the relationship between human beings and the environment, in what concernes the designation of topos. This work presents an etnolinguistic study about the toponymy of Brazilian Eastern Amazon “seringais” in the state of Acre. The first results point to a quantitative superiority of toponymies, whose meanings reflect motivations of antropocultural nature.
