  • Resumen
    • Two sequential extraction procedures have been compared to study the metallic distribution of Fe, Cu ,Pb and Zn in sediment samples from the intertidal area of the San Simón Bay (Ría de Vigo, NW Spain). Tessier et al. (1979) procedure is recommended to discriminate between reactive, bound to carbonates and bound to Fe-Mn oxyhydroxide fraction, however Huerta-Díaz and Morse (1990) procedure is prefered to differentiate from metals bound to organic matter to bound to sulphides. Both procedures, in general, give similar results, but in the case for Pb, the results can not ne compared due to the high pollution in the area, which causes an overload of the chemical system during the sequential extraction. It is recommended the Huerta-Díaz and Morse procedure for this element. Also, this is prefered to determine Fe and Zn bound to silicates and Cu bound to organic matter-sulphides.
