The recent Italian reform on filiation marked the final step in the passage from parental authority to parental responsibility, acknowledging the cultural evolution of which the Constitution was the forerunner, and which was then reflected in the case-law of ordinary civil courts. This paper analyzes the balance between family autonomy, parental responsibility and self-determination of minors, with special reference to the cases of conflict between children and parents.
