    O primeiro dicionário de português para falantes anglófonos foi publicado sob o título "A Compleat Account of the Portugueze Language" (London, 1701), junto com o anexo intitulado "Grammatica Anglo-Lusitanica". Num artigo anterior (Kemmler, 2012) apresentárnos as propostas históricas para a identificação do autor semianónimo A. J. No presente artigo apresentamos o autor/tradutor huguenote Alexander Justice, cuja qualidade como autor destas obras tem sido discutido pelo investigador português Manuel Gomes da Torre.

    The first Portuguese dictionary for English speakers was published under the tide A Compkat Account of the Portugueu Language (London. 1701). together with the bibliographically dependant Grammatica Anglo-Lusitanica. which shortly after had twO separate editions. In a previous paper (Kemmler. 2012) we have presented the historical proposals for the identification of the semianonymous author A. J. In this paper. we introduce the Huguenot author/translator Alexander Justice. whose authorship of these works has been questioned by the Portuguese researcher Manuel Comes da Torre.
