  El reclutamiento de la cohors III Asturum equitata tendría lugar en tiempos de Tiberio o de sus inmediatos seguidores, siendo adiestrada posiblemente en el campamento de la legión X Gemina.

  Su historia militar conocida se circunscribe al Norte de África, a pesar de que solamente se constate a partir del siglo II; hasta la fecha ninguna referencia documenta su lugar de acuartelamiento en dicha época, pues su campamento en Tabernae corresponde ya al siglo III.

  Entre las escasas referencias a cargos militares destacan dos prefectos de esta unidad, situándose su final en las últimas décadas del siglo III o en las primeras de la centuria siguiente.

  The recruiting of cohors III Asturum equitata took place most probably in times of either Tiberius or his immediate successors. lt was trained with all probability in the military camp of the legio X Gemina.

  Its military history, recorded since the 2nd century, is limited to the area of Northern Africa. To the present moment no record shows where its camp might have been located during that early time. Its camp at Tabernae would appear in the 3rd century.

  Among the very rare references to military officers of its unit two prefects would appear to be fundamental. It disappeared either in the last decades of the 3rd century or in the early years of the 4th.
