  • Resumen
    • Ninety nine postmortem juvenile House Sparrows were examined. The birds were grouped according to the colour of the throat: specimens with any greyish tinge, and specimens with pure white or whitish throat but no grey present. Anatomical analysis revealed that 2 % of males and 5 % of juvenile females were wrongly sexed if the presence of any greyish hue was used as a characteristic for males and its absence for females. The validity of this and other coloration characters for juvenile sex determination are discussed.
