Resumen de Palestrina y Victoria: recepción comparativa de su figura y obra en la tratadística musical española impresa, desde finales del siglo XVI hasta el alba del siglo XIX

Son muchos los investigadores que han realizado trabajos dedicados a estudiar la vida, la obra o el estilo compositivo de Palestrina y Victoria como grandes músicos de su tiempo, pero no hemos encontrado ningún estudio relativo a lo que modestamente con este trabajo se quiere conseguir: conocer la repercusión que Tomás Luis de Victoria como músico español formado y activo muchos años en Roma, y Giovanni Pierluigi de Palestrina como el gran músico italiano de su tiempo y posible maestro del propio Victoria, tienen comparativamente en los tratados teóricos hispanos editados entre los siglos XVI al XVIII. La investigación realizada en este trabajo ha permitido constatar y documentar que el porcentaje de apariciones de Victoria y Palestrina es muy dispar, siendo mucho menos elevado el número de referencias que posee el músico español, si bien los calificativos que asignan a ambos son semejantes.

Many researchers have developed studies about the life, work, or style of Palestrina and Victoria like great musicians at their time, but there are no studies related to what we modestly want to achieve through this essay: the repercussion that Tomás Luis de Victoria as a prestigious Spanish musician, educated and active in Rome for many years, and Giovanni Pierluigi de Palestrina as the great Italian musician at his time and also possible teacher of Victoria, have comparatively in the Hispanic treatises published along the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. The research carried out has verified and provided evidences to prove that the percentage of appearances of Victoria and Palestrina is very disparate, since the number of references to the Spanish musician is much lower. However, the words used to describe both of them are similar.
