Resumen de Pedro Pérez Clotet y las misiones culturales: iniciativas locales de un proyecto nacional

Con el advenimiento de la Segunda República, se pusieron en marcha una serie de ambiciosos planes para mejorar la situación educativa y cultural del pueblo español, por entonces predominantemente rural y seriamente afectado por el analfabetismo generalizado. Uno de los proyectos más llamativos fue el impulsado por el Patronato de Misiones Pedagógicas, dependiente del Ministerio de Instrucción Pública, para llevar al mundo rural una cultura circunscrita casi de manera exclusiva a las principales ciudades españolas gracias a la colaboración de numerosos voluntarios.
El Patronato de Misiones Pedagógicas sin embargo no contaba con una estructura sólida y asentada, al igual que la mayoría de las instituciones del Estado, por lo que para llevar a cabo esta emocionante empresa serán fundamentales las iniciativas locales.
En la provincia de Cádiz, cuyos índices de analfabetismo y absentismo escolar eran alarmantes teniendo en cuenta la ya preocupante situación a nivel nacional, sobresaldrá ante todo la figura de Pedro Pérez Clotet, poeta de Villaluenga del Rosario. Gracias a este hombre de amplia formación y espíritu vivo se puso en marcha la primera experiencia de misión cultural en la provincia, contando con la ayuda tanto del Ateneo de Jerez de la Frontera -institución de la cual era señero miembro- como del Ayuntamiento de esta localidad.
A partir del análisis de esta iniciativa mi intención es profundizar en los objetivos que se perseguían a nivel nacional con esta labor educativa, que además pretendía en cierto modo fomentar el conocimiento y la revalorización de la cultura popular. Asimismo, y dentro de su contexto republicano, era una forma de crear una conciencia nacional que débilmente se había extendido en todo el país a causa de la deficiente cobertura educativa que había proporcionado el estado liberal decimonónico.

With the advent of the second Republic, they were launched a series of ambitious plans to improve the educational and cultural situation of the Spanish people, then predominantly rural and seriously affected by the widespread illiteracy. One of the most striking projects was the driven by the Board of Trustees of pedagogical missions, dependent of the Ministry of public instruction, to take a culture of almost exclusively circumscribed to the main Spanish cities thanks to the collaboration of numerous volunteers to the rural world.
The Board of Trustees of pedagogical missions however did not have a solid and structure seated, like most of the institutions of the State, so to carry out this exciting company are key local initiatives.
In the province of Cadiz, whose illiteracy and truancy rates were alarming to taking into account the already worrying situation at the national level, will extend first and foremost figure of Pedro Pérez Clotet, poet from Villaluenga del Rosario. Thanks to this man of extensive training and living spirit it was launched the first experience of cultural mission in the province, relying on the help of the Ateneo of Jerez de la Frontera - institution of which he was unequalled member - and the Town Hall of this city.
Based on the analysis of this initiative, my intention is to further the goals that are pursued at the national level with this educational work, which also sought to foster awareness and appreciation of popular culture somehow. Also, and in his Republican context, it was a way of creating a national consciousness that weakly had spread throughout the country because of poor educational coverage that had provided the nineteenth-century liberal State.
