Las transformaciones sociales y culturales que se produjeron en los años sesenta y setenta en Francia dieron lugar a una profunda reconsideración de la teoría y la práctica de la historia.
Este artículo se centra en las aportaciones que hicieron en ese contexto Michel Foucault, Paul Veyne y François Furet.
Los tres sintieron que la necesaria renovación epistemológica pasaba por recuperar las obras de grandes figuras del pensamiento, como Friedrich Nietzsche, Max Weber y Alexis de Tocqueville. Hoy aún podemos aprender de ellos maneras de proseguir la interminable tarea de repensar la historia.

The social and cultural transformations of the sixties and the seventies in France gave place to an intense rethinking of the theory and practice of history. This article is focused on the contributions which Michel Foucault, Paul Veyne and François Furet made in that context. The three of them sensed that the necessary epistemological renewal implied recovering the works of great figures of thought like Friedrich Nietzsche, Max Weber, and Alexis de Tocqueville. Today we can still learn from them ways to continue the never ending task of rethinking history.
