Si el objetivo primordial de los movimientos sociales reside en buscar una solución a los problemas que plantea el orden establecido, se hace necesario contemplar la incidencia que la dinámica del poder, una variable olvidada en la Psicología social, y a su vera el conflicto, un elemento perteneciente a la propia naturaleza de los movimientos sociales. El "giro psicosocial" en el estudio del comportamiento colectivo necesita de estos dos ingredientes para completarse. De otra manera no sabremos hacia dónde se dirige el cambio, ni cuál es el propósito que lo guía

The main goal of social movements is to find out how it is possible to give an answer to social problems. This answer is usually defined in terms of social change. Nevertheless, to meet this goal we need the help of two processes often neglected in social psychology: power and conflict. Power belongs to the field of intergroup relationships, and conflict to the core of social movements, whose dynamics often goes inside the intergroup behavior. That is the reason why the "psychosocial switch" urgently needs these two arguments in order to be complete. Otherwise we will never know where the social change goes, and what its main goal is.
