    Ibérica va ser una revista fundada el 1913 pels jesuïtes de l�Observatori de l�Ebre, un centre de recerca científica localitzat prop de Tortosa (Tarragona). El seu objectiu principal va ser la divulgació científica i tecnològica a través de breus notícies d�actualitat, articles d�especialistes sobre matèries específiques, ressenyes de llibres, etc., que es publicaven setmanalment fent servir una excel·lent tipografia i imatges. Ara bé, Ibérica va ser també una manera de reivindicar una substancial compatibilitat entre ciència i fe catòlica. L�evolució, aplicada especialment a l�espècie humana, encara era una qüestió primordial per aquest tipus d�apologètica, fortament impregnada d�actituds ideològiques i religioses. Els jesuïtes romangueren com un dels bastions més importants de l�antievolucionisme a Espanya i atacaren sistemàticament des de les pàgines d�Ibérica les noves idees sobre la naturalesa animal de l�ésser humà.

    Ibérica was a journal founded in 1913 by Jesuit priests of the Ebro Observatory, a centre of scientific research located in the environs of Tortosa (Catalonia).

    tsmain purpose was scientific and technological vulgarization bymeans of brief current news, articles about specific subjects by specialists, book reviews, and other writings, that were published weekly featuring excellent typography and pictures.

    However, Ibérica was also a way to vindicate a substantial compatibility among science and Catholic faith. Evolution, especially when applied to the human species, was still a central question for that kind of apologetics, strongly pervaded by ideological and religious attitudes. The Jesuits remained as one of the most important bastions of antievolutionism in Spain, and new ideas about the animal nature of human being were systematically challenged by them in the pages of Ibérica.
