El artículo plantea el debate de fondo existente, hace ya tiempo en nuestro país, en torno a una serie de palabras y conceptos clave sobre la represión franquista y su estrecha relación con los discursos dominantes en torno al ciclo abierto en abril de 1931 y cerrado con la amnistía de 1977 y la constitución de 1978. De modo que, igual que asistimos desde hace unos años a una lucha de memorias, también hemos sido testigos y protagonistas de la lucha sorda que se libra en un mundo tan poco dado al debate abierto como el de la historia. Lo cierto es que a más de setenta años del golpe militar de julio del 36 y de sus consecuencias aún no hemos llegado a un acuerdo sobre las palabras que deben definirlo. Quizás por eso quepa considerar esta batalla dialéctica de ideas y argumentos como la última de la guerra civil.

This article sets out the debate, longstanding in our country, concerning a set of keywords and concepts regarding the Franco regime's repression, and the close relation these keywords and concepts have with the dominant discourse during the period from April of 1931 to the 1977 amnesty and the 1978 Constitution. In light of this debate, just as we have witnessed ongoing disputes over memory during recent years, so we have been actors in a deaf dispute in a world little given to open argument, that of history. The truth is that, more than seventy years after the July of 1936 military coup and its consequences, we have not reached agreement regarding the words used to define it. For this reason, it is worth considering this dialectical battle of ideas and arguments as the last battle in the Spanish Civil War.
