his paper analyzes agrarian connections of craft production of salt in Yucatán. It argues that certain social formations, historically developed in the regional agrarian spaces (particularly, the henequen plantation and the ejido), organize this activity in the present time; in the same way, it documents the relationship of this process with the emergence of social hierarchy forms and new precariousness, strongly associated with the implementation of neoliberal reforms in the state.
