Existe un consenso generalizado en la comunidad académica internacional y nacional sobre qué es la historia del presente y cuáles son sus límites cronológicos. En vista de aquello, el presente artículo pretende reflexionar sobre el por qué la dictadura militar de Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990) puede ser considerada historia del presente, especialmente por ser una historia en construcción, que se hace cargo de procesos en desarrollo, inacabados, que en el caso de la dictadura militar se conecta con el Chile de la transición, con las críticas a dicho proceso político y la crisis de representatividad y legitimidad que hoy se vive y que tiene sus orígenes en aquel periodo histórico

There is widespread consensus in the international and national academic community about what is the History of the Present and what are its chronological limits. In view of that, this article aims to reflect on why the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990) can be considered history of the prewent, especially being a history in construction, which is responsible for developing, unfinished processes, what in the case of the military dictatorship in Chile is connected to the transition, with the criticism that political process and the current crisis of representation and legitimacy and that has its origins in that historical period
