Resumen de Humanidades y TIC: reconstruyendo identidades profesionales en la globalización

El objetivo de esta etnografía es describir las diversas reacciones existentes ante el enorme cambio que supone la incorporación de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) en el ámbito profesional. Para ello, se toman como ejemplo las actitudes de diversos usuarios (profesores y alumnos) que la autora pudo observar durante dos años en los que trabajó como apoyo técnico en el Campus Virtual de dos facultades de letras de una universidad española. Lo que se descubrió fue que las reacciones de los humanistas académicos ante las TIC pueden clasificarse en tres grupos: el de aquellos que las usan y reflexionan científicamente sobre dicho uso (�los tecnológicamente in-corporados�); el de aquellos profesionales que las usan pero no reflexionan necesariamente sobre ellas (�los usuarios indiferentes�) y, finalmente, el de aquellos otros que (casi) ni las usan ni reflexionan sobre ellas porque no les interesan en absoluto (�desconectados, desiguales y diferentes�). Este tercer grupo, aunque aparentemente bastante minoritario, es el más preocupante porque se arriesga a la exclusión por analfabetismo digital. Las principales conclusiones permiten relacionar una posible reconstrucción de identidades en el ámbito profesional con una diversidad de niveles en la aceptación de la lógica del comportamiento impuesta por la globalización (representada por el uso de las nuevas tecnologías), según la cual todo se convierte en mercancía.

The purpose of this ethnography is to describe several existing reactions to the deep change that implies the incorporation of information and communication technologies (ICT) to professional areas of life. To do this, we take as examples the attitudes of some users, professors and students, that the author has observed for two years while working as technical support to the virtual campus of two Faculties of Arts at a Spanish university. The main discovery might highlight that the reactions of academic humanists towards ICT can be classified into three groups: a) that of those who use them and reflect scientificly on that use (�the technologicly emboddied users�); b) that of those professionals who use them but do not necessarily reflect on them (�the indiferent users�) and, finally, c) that of those that (almost) neither use them nor reflect on them because they are not interested at all (�the disconnected, disparate and different users�). This third group, although apparently quite minor, is the most worrying due to the fact that they run the risk of partial exclusion because of digital illiteracy. The main considerations refer to a possible reconstruction of identities in a professional environment with several levels of acceptance of the logic of conduct imposed by globalization (represented by the use of new technologies), according to which everything becomes a good.
