    La ciencia determina nuestra cosmovisión, y con ello incide en el comportamiento individual y colectivo porque forma también los valores y las costumbres de toda la sociedad. Ésta tiene que ver con todo lo que se refiere a lo real en cuanto que nos proporciona el inmenso poder de contribuir a la construcción y al cambio de todo lo que nos rodea. El nexo entre saber y poder que aquí se vislumbra, nos conduce a la relación Ciencia-Ética: en la medida en que esta última se refiere al actuar de los seres humanos, tal nexo viene determinado por el conocimiento y en consecuencia, está en estrecha relación con la educación. Así, la relación ciencia-sociedad, que de inmediato se presenta como intrínsecamente dinámica, gira en torno al conocimiento humano, impacta a la educación y se expresa en la acción; ahí interpretamos y transformamos al mundo, y por tanto se refiere ineludiblemente a la ética. Este ensayo representa el reporte parcial de una investigación más amplia -cuyos resultados serán publicados en un volumen todavía por definirse- sobre el tema de la ética en relación con la formación de los nuevos saberes que está aportando la ciencia de última generación.

    Science conforms our world view and therefore, it affects subjective and collective behaviours because it also forms the values and customs of society as a whole. This involves everything related to reality, as it provides us with the immense power of contributing to the construction and changes in everything around us. The nexus between knowledge and power that is outlined here leads us to the relationship between science and ethics. To the degree in which the latter is related to human behaviour, such a nexus is determined by knowledge and thus, is closely related to education. Hence, the relationship between science and society is immediately presented as intrinsically dynamic; it revolves around human knowledge, influences education and is expressed in the human action with which we interpret and transform the world; it necessarily involves ethical implications. This essay represents a partial report on broader research - the outcome of which will be published in a volume still to be written - on the topic of ethics in relation to the new fields of knowledge provided by cutting-edge science.
