Esta contribución se divide en tres partes. En primer lugar, se detallan las características de la política represiva penitenciaria y judicial en Portugal durante la dictadura militar y el Estado Novo (1926-1974). En segundo lugar, se describe, interpreta y analiza el establecimiento prisional de Caxias, donde estuvieron apresadas las mujeres portuguesas durante el periodo dictatorial. Finalmente, se presentan datos relativos a las fases de mayor afluencia de las presas, a su procedencia y a sus perfiles socioprofesionales.
This paper consists of three parts. Firstly, the characteristics of the repressive penitentiary and judicial politics in Portugal during the dictatorship are analyzed. Secondly, it is depicted, interpreted and analyzed the jail of Caxias, where the Portuguese women were caught during the dictatorial period. Finally, dates about number of caught women, their origin and their professional profiles are presented.
