    La presente comunicación pone de manifiesto la opinión, preferencias y actitudes de los habitantes de la Vega del Segura ante la imperiosa necesidad de proteger y revitalizar un espacio en retroceso, seriamente amenazado, de extraordinario valor cultural, natural y económico, la Huerta de Murcia. Constituye una aportación al diagnóstico previo a la elaboración de un plan de acción territorial. Una información de gran importancia que se obtiene a través de la entrevista personal y abierta, y que propone, incorporar el espacio subjetivo a la función pública y administrativa de ordenar el territorio, y, hacer de la participación ciudadana, no sólo un estilo de gobierno, sino un instrumento insoslayable en procesos de toma de decisiones en materia de ordenación y desarrollo territorial. Los resultados de esta investigación revelan fuertes relatos identitarios que reclaman la recuperación y puesta en valor de este paisaje cultural.

    The present paper reveals the opinion, preferences and attitudes of the habitants of the fertile plain of the Segura River faced with the pressing need of protecting and revitalizing a declining space, seriously threatened with an extraordinary cultural, natural and economic value, that is, Murcia fertile irrigated area. It is a contribution to the diagnosis previous to the elaboration of a territorial action scheme. Some important information gathered through open and personal interview whose aim is to incorporate the subjective space to the citizen participation not only a form of government but an essential instrument in making decisions processes related to territorial development and planning. The results of this investigation reveal strong identifying narratives that claim the recovery and marketing of this cultural landscape.
