Studies in History of Art have traditionally paid great attention to the role played by the route of pilgrimage to Santiago in the transmission of artistic exchanges during the Romanesque period, while ignoring its influence in the Gothic period. This paper deals with the reception in Castile of the new Gothic architectural solutions, which arrived through the Iter francorum and were put into practice in the greatest buildings of that time (Abbey of Las Huelgas, Burgos cathedral). It also deals with their subsequent spreading all along the Castilian territories, once again following partially the Way of St. James. The important and insufficiently studied churches of the Burgos region of Odra-Pisuerga which are the subject of this article constitute a perfect example of this reality.
