Resumen de El tiempo de los titulares: un análisis verbal de la titulación en la prensa española durante el periodo 1980/2005

Entre los años 1980 y 2005, la sintaxis de los titulares de los periódicos españoles experimentó notables transformaciones. La más destacable la representa la tendencia hacia formas conjugadas en presente simple del indicativo, en línea con lo prescrito por los Libros de Estilo periodísticos. En contraste, el aumento experimentado por las formas verbales en futuro y la persistencia de los sintagmas no verbales se aparta de las prescripciones recogidas en ellos. Se concluye que las indicaciones de tales Libros se aplican principalmente a las noticias más importantes, disfrutando el resto de los textos de una mayor libertad de titulación

Between the years 1980 and 2005, the syntax of Spanish newspapers headlines underwent significant transformations, Most remarkable is the shift toward the use of the present tense, in accordance with the Style Guides of the main newspapers. Howeber, the rise in the use of future tense and the widespread use of verbeless headlines departs from the conventions set by the Style Guides. We conclude that these Guides are applied mainly to hard news headlines, while others headlines display a great verbal variety.
