  • On 1870 the Foreign Office send to all the British consular representations a series of questions about urban conditions of work all over the world. They were interested on the ideal conditions to British who immigrate because of technological unemployment after the Industrial Revolution. This study try to understand and to show, British consuls perspective on working conditions in Brazil, specially in Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Pará e Amazonas, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. This presentation try to rebuild and order this information, central for its information and for its "time" - the beginning of emancipation process after the slavery in Brazil.
