    La biografía de Agustín Argüelles es la del primer liberalismo español. Nadie como él encarna las virtudes y defectos de unos hombres casi desconocidos que por la fuerza de los acontecimientos se convirtieron en los protagonistas de una etapa decisiva de la historia de España. Su agitada vida llena de éxitos y penurias, aislamiento y reconocimiento general casi se confunde con su época, la de la revolución liberal, caracterizada también por avances y retrocesos, logros históricos y violentos intentos de anularlos. El "divino" Argüelles se convirtió así en uno de los mitos contemporáneos de la lucha por la libertad. Este artículo estudia su vida y su leyenda.

    The Argüelles Burial. Agustín Argüelles biography is also the first Spanish liberalism biography. He embodied as nobody the virtues and the faults of an almost unknown men who became the main characters in one of the most testing situations of Spanish history. His hectic life full of success and failure, isolation and public recognition is nearly the history of the Spanish liberal revolution, a period characterized by historical achievements and violent attempts to go backwards. By the time of his death, Argüelles, "the divine", was regarded as one of the myths of the Spanish fight for the freedom. The present article studies his life and his legend.
