Resumen de Enrique IV de Castilla y los conversos: testimonios poéticos de una evolución histórica

  Este artículo trata de probar la relación existente entre Enrique IV y los conversos a través de la poesía de cancionero del siglo XV, en la que se ven claramente dos etapas. La primera de ellas, entre los años 1454 y 1464, está caracterizada por el apoyo que los conversos hacen al rey, escribiendo amplios panegíricos con una imagen muy positiva del monarca. La segunda de ellas, entre los años 1464-1474, se caracteriza por todo lo contrario, contribuyendo los conversos a la caracterización negativa del rey. La razón hay que buscarla en el cambio de actitud efectuado por Enrique IV, que primero apoyó a los conversos y luego los abandonó a su suerte cuando se vio acosado por el resto de problemas que ocurrieron en su reinado. A tenor de estos datos, con respecto a los conversos convendría no caer en algunos manidos estereotipos sobre la supuesta oposición entre los reinados de Enrique IV y de Isabel la Católica.

  This paper we provide a research about the relationship between the King Henry IV of Castile and the conversos (e.g., converted from Hebrew to Christianity), using as primary source the cancionero poetry of the 15th century. This relationship walked through two different stages : first, among the years 1454 and 1464, was characterized by the conversos' support to the King, as could be clearly seen in a bunch of some poems they wrote with a very positive reftection of him. Second one, among the years 1464 and 1474, was diametrically opposed, in which the conversos' contribution to the negative image of the King was extreme, because of Henry IV's change of attitude, who first saved the conversos from their enemi es but, later on, as a result of being harassed by the unpopul arity, left the conversos away and never turned back to the first stage. As we understand it, regarding to the study of the conversos, it would be convenient not to judge this sort of relationship by using the former and stereotyped antagonism between the King Henry IV and his sister, Isabella I, the Catholic Queen.
