The number of tall wild fauna has been increasing in density as much as in expanse in the French countryside for thirty years now. This is due to the evolution of the biotops, the creation of protected areas and the establishment of hunting plans. This phenomenon has great impacts on the management of rural territories. Therefore the amount of agricultural and forest damages such as predation on cattle and fish breeding has increased. Conversely it’s of benefit for the touristic attraction for protected areas and wellknown hunting territories as well. These numerous visitors sometimes bother the quietness of endangered species. Anywhere else in the countryside, the hunting management of these inflows raise many problems, from the impossible control of the wild fauna because of the spreading of houses or when the numbers of hunters becomes too low, to the feeling of hostility between local and intrusive urban hunters attracted by countrysides abounding in game. These questions delimit a geografic field poorly explored by now though in full recombining.

Les effectifs de la grande faune sauvage augmentent en densité comme en extension dans les campagnes françaises depuis 30 ans. Évolution des biotopes, créations de réserves et instauration des plans de chasse en sont responsables. Ce phénomène a des incidences fortes sur la gestion des territoires ruraux. Il accroît le montant des dégâts agricoles et forestiers comme les prédations en élevage ou pisciculture. À l'inverse, il profite à l'attractivité touristique des espaces protégés, voire à celle de massifs cynégétiques notoires. Ces afflux de visiteurs nuisent parfois à la tranquillité d'espèces en voies d'extinction. Dans les campagnes plus banales, la gestion cynégétique de ces populations soulève bien des problèmes, depuis l'impossible régulation des effectifs lorsque le mitage pavillonnaire s'étend ou lorsque le nombre des chasseurs devient insuffisante jusqu'aux tensions nées de l'invasion de campagnes trop riches par des nemrods venus des villes. Ces questions délimitent un champ géographique trop peu exploré bien qu'en pleine recomposition.
