    La pasión que vivió Madrid por el Maestro Rossini cuando en 1831 visitó la Villa y Corte quedó reflejada en la entrega fervorosa que sintieron todos al verle, admirarle y, casi, adorarle. Los madrileños de entonces padecían de la misma fiebre que invadía y se extendía por toda Europa desde hacía unas décadas, la músico-manía rossiniana. Hoy —cuando apenas acabamos de conmemorar el bicentenario de su nacimiento en 1792— descubrimos que aún nos quedan por conocer en palacios, museos y teatros de Madrid unos cuantos recuerdos de su simpático rostro.

    The passion that Madrid lived when Maestro Rossini visited the Town and Court of Madrid in 1831 was reflected in the fervent surrender that all felt upon seeing, admiring, and almost adoring him. The people of Madrid suffered then the same fever that had been invading and extending itself throughout Europe for some decades, the music mania Rossiniana. Today, after just having celebrated the second centennial of his birth in 1792, we discover that there are still some memories of his likeable countenance to be discovered in palaces, museums, and theatres of Madrid.
