    La enfermedad y su tipología, el envejecimiento y el modo de entender la vejez, y, por último, la muerte, y la manera de tratarla, así como la actitud ante estas tres plagas de la Humanidad de los escritores que describen tales sucesos, son el objetivo de este trabajo, limitado temporalmente al período comprendido entre el acceso de Tito al poder (año 79) y la muerte de Trajano (año 117), es decir, unos cuarenta años escasos, y, desde el punto de vista de los autores considerados, al prosista latino Plinio y a los poetas Marcial, Estacio y Juvenal. El análisis y posible diagnóstico de las enfermedades, la curiosidad por saber cómo los antiguos... (Ver más) se enfrentaban a la vejez, así como por conocer la opinión que les merecía, la reacción ante la muerte (desesperanzada o, pese a todo, esperanzada, etc.), son aspectos que constituyen parte primordial de la labor realizada

    Illness and its typology; ageing and the manner of understanding old age, and, finally, the death as well as how to treat it, and the frame of mind before these three plagues of humanity from the part of the writers which describe such events, are the target this paper aims at. The work is limited both from the temporal point of view (between Titus and Trajanus, namely, forty years circa), as well as from the point of view of the authors considered, vz., Plinius, Martial, Statius, Iuvenal. Analysis and possible diagnostics of the illnesses; curiosity for knowing how antiquity faced up to old age and its opinion about it; reaction of the writers... (Ver más) before the death, are others aspects that constitute a principal part of the achieved work.
