    The person, the centre of educational action [FRANCESC TORRALBA] Based on the premise that the essential mission of an educational institution is to form or train people (as opposed to training professionals), as well as the fact that we are going through changing times ("of global crisis"), the author vindicates the decisive contribution of the Humanities in the educational system, as they help pupils to become committed citizens involved in society. While defending the applicability of the personalist tradition in the development of formal education, the article expounds a whole series of arguments to defend the essential role of the Humanities, defined as the disciplines whose objective is to reflect on the humaneness of the individual. Thus, the text constitutes a well-ordered exposition of the virtues and contributions of the Humanities to knowledge and training, from the standpoint of personalism. From the contribution to the capacity of intellectual organisation and knowledge, to the will to tackle the challenges of the generalist complexity and knowledge, via the formation of a critical spirit, knowledge of one's own identity and the roots or the knowledge of political, social and religious reality, which is indispensable to work on it and transform it.

    La persona, centre de l'acció educativa [FRANCESC TORRALBA] Partint de la base que la finalitat primordial d' una institució educativa és formar persones (més enllà de formar professionals), i a partir de la constatació que aquests són temps canviants ("de crisi global"), l' autor reivindica la decisiva contribució de les humanitats en el sistema educatiu, ajudant els alumnes a esdevenir ciutadans compromesos i implicats en la societat. Tot defensant la vigència de la tradició personalista en el desenvolupament de l'educació formal, l'article exposa tot un seguit d'arguments per defensar el paper essencial de les humanitats, enterrent-les com aquelles disciplines que tinguin com a objectiu la reflexió al voltant de la humanitat de la persona. Així, el text esdevé una exposició ordenada de les virtuts i aportacions de les humanitats al coneixement i la formació, des de la visió del personalisme. Des de la contribució a la capacitat d'organització intellectual i del coneixement fins ala voluntat d'emprendre el repte de la complexitat i el saber generalista, passant per la formació de l'esperit crític, el coneixement de la pròpia identitat i de les arrels, o el coneixement de la realitat política, social i religiosa, condició indispensable per a treballar-hi tot transformant-la.
