  • The main objective of this article is to explore the transformations and changes undergone by the figure of the Catholic intellectual from the second half of the 20th century to the present. This paper analyzes the function of this figure in the context of a highly secularized culture and within the framework of the broadcast media. Far from considering this type of intellectual life as belonging to the past, the author defends its necessity and its present raison d¿être in this article of homage to the French philosopher Jean Guitton.
