  • This paper deals with Agamemnon's sole as military and political leader of Achaean society. The main goal of the following pages is showing that traditional vocabulary provided by History and Anthropology, which intended a definition of leadership in the Iliad, is maybe dispensable if we look at the Greek army as a social metaphor. At its highest level, Agamemnon is the guardian of time distribution, and his temporary «power» is nothing but a strategy aimed at the preservation of a common ideal language.
