Resumen de Los territorios de las villas reales de la Vieja Castilla, SS. XI-XIV: antecedentes, génesis y evolución. (Estudio a partir de una docena de sistemas concejiles entre el Arlanza y el Alto Ebro)

El presente trabajo analiza los procesos de formación de los territorios de los "sistemas concejiles" en un área significativa de la Castilla septentrional. En una primera parte, tras conocer los posibles antecedentes históricos de los siglos X-XI, se estudia el ciclo fundacional de los dos grandes modelos de creación de espacios concejiles de las villas reales, ciclo desarrollado fundamentalmente en loa siglos XII y XIII: las cabeceras de alfoces regios reconvertidas en sistemas concejiles; y las nuevas fundaciones de villas burguesas que supusieron una reestructuración más ambiciosa del poblamiento. En una segunda parte se sigue la evolución de los territorios de las villas durante los siglos XIII-XIV, planteando los problemas de adquisición del dominio, la ampliación de los espacios concejiles, entre otros aspectos, para presentar el estado de tales espacios a mediados del siglo XIV.

The study analyses the process of creation of territories with a council system in an important area of Northern Castile. The first part deals with the historical background of the 10th and 11th centuries, and studies the creation of council systems in royal towns, which took place mainly in the 12th and 13th centuries. The process of creation followed two different patterns: head towns (cabeceras) of royal territories (alfoces) were reorganized into council systems; and new bourgeois towns were created, which meant a more ambitious restructuring. The second part studies the development of towns throughout the 13th and 14th centuries, the problem of acquiring dominion and the enlargement of council systems, among other issues, and finally shows the situation of council systems in the mid-15th century.
