    Vicente Juan Alvado y su tristemente fallecida esposa, Enriqueta Ruiz Pastor, comenzaron a coleccionar piezas cerámicas por pura sensibilidad hacia una parte de nuestro patrimonio cultural, algo muy poco común por aquellos años 60 y 70 del siglo pasado. En aquella época la insaciable curiosidad de este matrimonio les llevó a visitar varios establecimientos de antigüedades en Barcelona, Madrid o Sevilla y conocer coleccionistas con los que comenzaron a compartir inquietudes. Lo que empezó como una afición se ha convertido en una gran colección de tinajas y cántaros, entre otras piezas, compuesta por alrededor de seis mil piezas de todo el territorio peninsular y las islas.En esta comunicación hacemos un rápido recorrido sobre el origen de la colección, las primeras piezas, evolución, su valor histórico, artístico y etnológico y en definitiva su desarrollo hasta la incipiente musealización de parte de ella en la actualidad.Finalmente reflexionaremos sobre el presente y futuro de la colección ya que el pasado 7 de mayo de 2021, la Consellería de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de la Generalitat Valenciana incluyó en su Inventario general del patrimonio cultural valenciano la Colección de Alfarería Alvado-Ruiz, declarándola como colección de bienes muebles de relevancia patrimonial.

    Vicente Juan Alvado and his sadly deceased spouse, Enriqueta Ruiz Pastor, began to collect ceramic pieces out of pure sensitivity towards a part of our cultural heritage, something very uncommon in those 60s and 70s of the last century. At that time, the insatiable curiosity of this couple led them to visit several antique establishments in Barcelona, Madrid or Sevilla and meet collectors with whom they began to share concerns. What began as a hobby has become a large collection of jars and pitchers, among other pieces, made up of around six thousand pieces from all over the peninsular territory and the islands.In this communication we take a quick look at the origin of the collection, the first pieces, evolution, its historical, artistic and ethnological value and ultimately its development until the incipient musealization of part ofit today.Finally, we will reflect on the present and future of the collection, since on May 7, 2021, the Ministry of Education, Cultura y Deporte of the Generalitat Valenciana included the Alvado-Ruiz Pottery Collection in its General Inventory of patrimonio cultural valenciano, declaring it a collection of movable property of heritage relevance.
