Resumen de Vías romanas entre el Alto Guadalquivir (Jaén) y el Mediterráneo: de Castulo a Portus Magnus

Las vías –puntos de concentración poblacional y de tránsito de mercancías– que unían el interior y la costa en época romana resultan imprescindible para conocer las relaciones económicas que se establecen entre ambos espacios. Este trabajo se centra en la vía que comunicaba las tierras jiennenses del Alto Guadalquivir con el Mediterráneo almeriense, especialmente la conexión Castulo-Portus Magnus. Nuestro objetivo es ofrecer un recorrido aproximado, establecer su funcionalidad y qué productos circularon por ella, conjugando las fuentes escritas, topográficas, epigráficas y arqueológicas.

The roads –points of concentrated population and transit of good– that connected the inland and the coast in Roman times are essential to understand the economic relations established between both areas. This work focuses on the road that communicated the lands of Jaén in the Upper Guadalquivir with the Almerian Mediterranean, especially the Castulo-Portus Magnus connection. Our goal is to provide an approximate route, for establishing its functionality and determine which products circulated through it, combining written, topographical, epigraphic and archaeological sources.
